Mountain weather app

A mountain weather app built around your plans

Epicrest is an all-outdoor-places companion for iPhone that helps you decide where to get outside today — and weather is a big part of that call. See current conditions for free where supported, then move to Pro for detailed hourly and multi-day forecasts, live weather map layers, best weather windows, golden hour, visibility, and offline snapshots. It is a planning aid, not a safety source.

Weather for plans

Epicrest tools for a mountain weather app

Detailed forecasts

Current conditions are free where supported. Pro adds detailed hourly and multi-day forecasts with wind, gusts, and visibility for the places you are weighing.

Weather map layers

Pro overlays live radar, precipitation, temperature, wind, and cloud layers on the map so you can see where the weather is and where it is heading.

Best weather windows

Pro highlights golden hour and the better weather and photography windows so you can time the outing around clearer skies or nicer light. Core sunrise and sunset remain available on Free where supported.

Offline weather snapshots

Epicrest Pro can create or update an Outdoor offline pack with a weather snapshot for a region up to 50 miles. Free can read a compatible weather snapshot already stored in an installed pack, and up to 15 packs can remain installed per device.

Weather built into the decision, not bolted on

Epicrest is a daily companion for the full range of outdoor places — local and national or state parks, public lands, trails and trailheads, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, canyons, scenic viewpoints, beaches, campgrounds, and more. When the Home screen recommends where to get outside today, weather is part of why a place fits: a clearer afternoon for a hike, a calmer window for a lake, or nicer light for a viewpoint. Current conditions are free where supported, so a quick check is always close at hand.

Move to Pro and the picture gets sharper. Extended detailed hourly and multi-day forecasts, gusts, visibility, clouds, golden hour, and planning windows help you read how the day may feel. Core wind, daylight, sunrise, and sunset remain available on Free where supported. Pro is an optional auto-renewing marketplace subscription, and the applicable store shows final local pricing before purchase.

See the weather move across the map

With Pro, live weather map layers — radar, precipitation, temperature, wind, and clouds — sit right on the Epicrest map next to the places and routes you are considering. Pan across a region and the best weather windows become easier to spot: which trailhead is drying out, which valley is socked in, which ridge keeps the afternoon sun. On Vista and 3D terrain you can watch conditions in the context of the landscape itself, where data exists.

Weather, like the rest of Epicrest, is a planning and research aid. It is not a safety or navigation source and is not built for emergency use, so confirm conditions against official forecasts, current local guidance, and your own judgment before you commit to a plan.

Carry a snapshot where signal fades

Mountains and remote places are exactly where forecasts get harder to load. Epicrest Pro can download an Outdoor offline map with a weather snapshot alongside the peaks, places, and routes in a region up to 50 miles. Free can continue to read a compatible snapshot already stored in an installed pack. A snapshot captures a point in time rather than a live feed, so treat it as a reference and re-check the forecast once you are back in range.

Pair the snapshot with Plans to keep target dates honest: save a goal, mark whether it still needs a weather check, and let the better windows guide when you actually go. In the public iPhone app, your Plans and Journal stay on device and can use private iCloud where supported; there are no ads or cross-app advertising tracking.
