This roadmap is directional, not a promise of exact dates or final scope. It is shaped by product research, internal planning, and user feedback.
Epicrest is now available on Google Play with discovery, maps, search, place details, Journal, Plans, Pro-only offline downloads, AR, accounts, and Pro.
Version 2.3 includes a compact worldwide place corpus, flexible location-ranked search, stronger recommendations, reliable remote map focus, and responsive local-first place loading.
Version 2.3 reconciles saved items, plans, and journal metadata non-destructively, with optional on-device encrypted Google Drive media sync between iPhone and Android.
Expanding and validating regional peak packs and route packs so more areas work well before users need them in the field.
Continuing global refresh rotations, source validation, route enrichment, and coverage audits while keeping bundled and downloadable data compact.
Improving how the camera view lines up with real ridgelines, especially in canyons and cliff terrain where a single summit point is not always the right visual anchor.
Rebuilt the map on Mapbox with an Outdoor default plus Vista, Satellite, and Topo styles, 3D terrain, trail and park outlines, focus-on-map, and weather map layers. Epicrest Pro can create or update Outdoor offline regions up to 50 miles, with up to 15 packs installed per device. Free can read and manage compatible packs already installed on the device.
Building on saved routes and route geometry, turn-by-turn navigation with clear, field-friendly cues that help you stay oriented and on route, plus GPX export.
A connected layer for getting outside together: planning visits with the people you hike with, sharing summits and outings, ratings and reviews for places and routes, community photo uploads for places (reviewed and credited), and automatic discovery of places you've already visited from your photo library.
More official closures, seasonal access, fees, permits, facilities, and source freshness without presenting inferred data as guaranteed field conditions.
A companion Watch app for quick summit stats, bearing, route progress, and field-friendly navigation cues.
Evaluation starts with reliable GPX export and may expand if official integration proves practical.
Always improving
Epicrest will keep refining map detail, weather context, route warnings, offline reliability, and feedback workflows. Feature requests and issue reports help decide what moves up the roadmap.
